Carawatha Solar Farm

Bison Energy Australia (BEA) is developing a Solar Farm (Project) near the rural township of Finley, NSW. With a target capacity of 4.95MW (AC), the Project will use solar photovoltaic (PV) technology with sun trackers and ancillary equipment to power over 1900 homes for 30 years. The project will connect to Essential Energy's 22kV line which passes through the 16.5 hectares site on Broughans Road, approx. 4km窶冱 from the centre of the town. Bison Energy, who are a leading international large-scale renewable energy developer and investor with a portfolio of projects across Australia, Europe and Japan. The company identifies sites, coordinates lease or purchase land acquisitions, network connections and arranges all key commercial contracts including construction, Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and financing.

Progress

The project is currently under development, though we received development approval for the solar farm and battery energy storage (BESS) in late 2021. We anticipate to obtain grid connection approval and financial close in the middle of 2022, with construction commencing not long after. Due to covid delays, the project has been affected though is now back on track to commence construction either late 2022 or early 2023.
